note: I do not or never will ship Kataang. THis is just a speculation.
Why did Aang have to let Katara go? Wheat was she doing that held him back?
Well, I have noticed that she has always stopped him from entering the Avatar State. She was holding him back.
Also, if he loves Katara she could easily be used against him, lead him into traps, ect. Such as the finale.
So tell me what you think, do you think he let her go?

that is true. But, as you can see, the former Avatar's lover was stolen by Koh. WHo knows what might have happened if her face wasn't stolen?

Yea, true. She could easily be used against Aangy, but I think Aang is too blinded by his love to realize it and thats why he went against the Guru. The question is, will he still have feelings left for Katara after and if he mastered his last, yea you know.
